宅男,宅女 is a documentary film, approximately 10 to 15 minutes in length, that examines the phenomenon of young men and women who stay indoors and live in social isolation. The film focuses on the lifestyle of this increasingly prevalent subculture in Shanghai and its strong association with modern technological innovations such as the Internet and the popularity of social gaming, along with the consequences of such a lifestyle. Some of these consequences include a diminished social life and faltering physical and mental health that comes as a result of living as an indoors man or woman.
